Walks in Cheshire

Immerse yourself in nature.

Dogs are always welcome at Park Royal, and we’ve taken some of the stress out of planning activities with a furry friend in tow. Here’s a few walks you can go on, by yourself or with man’s best friend…

WIZARD’S WANDER

30 minute drive

Uncover the legend of Alderley Edge.

Alderley Edge has a long history of magic and witchcraft, and you can discover some of the fabled sites on this walk. Along with being the oldest metal-mining site in Britain, Alderley Edge is said to be home to a doorway into another realm – see if you can find it on your travels.

Dogs are welcome but must be on leads during lambing season.

Time: 1 hour

THE ROACHES AND LUD’S CHURCH CIRCULAR

1 hour drive

Delve into Cheshire’s past.

Lud’s Church, a 60ft cleft in the ground, is said to have been the hiding spot of many historical figures including Bonny Prince Charlie and even Robin Hood. Along your travels you might also catch a glimpse of local legend Jenny Greenteeth, a malicious mermaid said to live in Doxey Pool.

Dogs are welcome.

Time: 4 hours

THE CLOUD CIRCULAR

Test your abilities.

A slightly challenging walk up The Cloud, one of Cheshire’s highest hills, but well worth the view at the top. Some parts of the trail can get quite muddy in wet weather, so this trail is best undertaken in warm, dry weather. The Cloud is part of one of the most stunning circular walks in Cheshire.

Dogs are welcome.

Time: 1.5 hours

OLD PALE HILL AND DELAMERE FOREST

45 minute drive

Get back in touch with nature.

This is truly one of the most beautiful walks in Cheshire. Start off with a walk up Old Pale Hill, where you’ll be treated to stunning views of the seven surrounding counties before descending through the Delamere Forest, Cheshire’s largest woodland. Catch sight of the rare quaking bog Black Lake, and the centrepiece of the whole forest Blakemere Moss.

Dogs are welcome.
